What is Urban Rangers?

Urban Rangers is a joint venture between the Northside Outreach Center and Lux Church. The Ranger program is modeled after the Royal Rangers which is similar to the Boys Scouts with more emphasis on spiritual development. All of the leaders have been screened by the NOC and Lux church leadership and are required to have a criminal background check performed annually.

The Urban Ranger Mission:

Mission of the Urban Rangers is to be a mentoring program for young and teenage boys. We provide Christ-like character formation and servant leadership development in a highly relational and fun environment. Our mission is to evangelize, equip, inform and empower the next generation of Christ-like men as lifelong servant leaders. ”We are focused on showing the love of Christ to the unchurched and churched boys and teenagers that we serve, in the prayerful hopes that one day they will exhibit the same love to their families, schoolmates, church friends, communities and anyone that the Lord has called them to serve.

The Urban Ranger Goal:

Our goal is that every boy and young man that comes through the Urban Rangers Ministry will get to know the Lord for themselves, and develop a personal relationship with Him, along with serving Him for all of their days with an eternity mindset, knowing that life on earth is for a short period of time, but life with Jesus Christ is forever. We do this through a variety of teaching, serving and fun activities such as camping, attending sports events, learning practical skills, etc. This year, our teaching will be focused on the “Rite of Passage”, from one of boyhood to manhood.

Meeting Times and Location:

Urban Rangers meeting times are on Monday evenings from 6:15-7:30 PM. We follow the Richmond Public Schools calendar. If RPS is out, has cancellations for adverse weather or in session for only ½ day, UR does not meet. This year, UR will be meeting in Lux Church’s new location at 22 E. Leigh Street, located in the Jackson Ward community.

Starting/Ending Dates:

The 2019 season for UR will begin on September 30, 2019 and our last session will end on June 8, 2020.
