TAKIN IT TO THE STREETS

Back in May

The time is close for us to get out and Takin it to the Streets. Yippee! This year we moved the date to the 4th Friday of each month. Takin it to the Streets is a Highland Park Community cook out which will begin in May and run through September. The purpose of this gathering is to bring the community together to enjoy each other’s presence and to share the love of Christ who intentionally wants to redeem and start a relationship with everyone in the Highland Park community. We do that with the serving of free food, great community fellowship, a word of encouragement from God’s Word and times of prayer. This gathering is hosted by the Northside Outreach Center and our supporting churches who help make this outreach possible. Takin It is not an event. You are the event! It’s a time when the Word of God becomes flesh and we pour out His great love for the folks in Highland Park whom many have lost hope and feel alienated from any real friendships. Come and join us as we take His Love to the streets.

HIGHLAND PARK COMMUNITY CHURCH

Building Expansion Update

Psalm 127 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. There has been a lot of working out of the finer details between the engineering firm and the architect and we are ever so close to completion of the final plans and the submission of the application for the building permit.

We are also working out the details of future ministries as well as the new church that will be launched out of the new facility. Excited yet? We are !!!

DR. SEUSS DAY

At Overby Sheppard, I had the privilege of reading a little known Dr. Seuss book to one of their 4th grade classes. The book was titled “How Do You Choose a Pet”. The 4th graders loved it, especially when I showed them pictures of my dog, Bailey. We had a really good discussion about the responsibilities of having a pet.

THANK YOU!

As always, thank all of you for your donations and volunteer hours throughout the year. The success of the Northside Outreach Center is built on the efforts of people like you. Because of you so many people are served through our Thrift Store, Food Pantry, Takin-it-to-the-Streets, Thanksgiving Outreach, Community Christmas Store and our other ongoing ministries that impact the lives of many. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations and hands on service.
